Sensational Midfielder Hands Bayern Additional Injury Blow

In the aftermath of Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over Mainz 05, midfielder, Leon Goretzka suffered an injury in an unfortunate turn of events.

After a rough battle with Mainz forward Ludovic Ajorque, Goretzka suffered a serious injury to his left hand around the hour mark.

Ten minutes afterwards, the midfield player was substituted and sent to the hospital, amid the physio team’s first examinations suggesting he could continue play.

Medical examinations determined that Goretzka had fractured his left metacarpal, confirming the extent of his damage.

The 28-year-old is expected to be out for up to three weeks, according to BILD as reported by Planet Sport. He will be sidelined out of the Bavaria’s next four games due to this setback. This includes a much awaited Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund.

Given that Goretzka was crucial to Bayern’s recent success, his loss is difficult to accept. The German international was instrumental in helping his side secure three vital points against Mainz. He contributed both an assist and a goal during the encounter.

Goretzka posted a picture on his Instagram handle with a heartfelt caption. “Appropriate sign in front of the clinic. Thank you for the well wishes. I’m looking forward to being able to get back to it quickly.”
