After scoring the winning goal for the Ivory Coast against France in their World Cup warm-up, Manchester United star Amad delivered a clear message to Michael Carrick that he is ready to make an impact with the Reds next season. The United striker struggled for goals and assists last season, but he delivered a stunning goal Wednesday night.
The Elephants rallied from behind to defeat the favourites for this summer’s World Cup, as Manchester City player Rayan Cherki opened the score just before halftime.

He certainly delivered, dancing inside two defenders before drilling the ball into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.
Guele Doue leveled for Emerse Faé’s side after half-time, and Amad scored a superb first-time strike in the 84th minute.
Doue took over as provider, delivering an excellent pass from the right side of the pitch, which Amad touched into the bottom corner.
Amad was one of the players that stood out when Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 2024-24.
He put up Bryan Mbeumo for the second goal in United’s 3-0 victory over Brighton. Carrick was obliged to defend Amad against criticism earlier that month, insisting he was performing well despite his lack of end product.
“But he has given this team an awful lot. It is about the underbelly of what goes into a performance and not always what the headline grabs.”
