Ten Hag Set To Hand ‘Significant Role’ To Former Golden Boy Award Winner

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag is reportedly set to hand Anthony Martial a major role in his team for the rest of the 2023/24 campaign.

For the most part of his eight years at Old Trafford, the French forward has battled injuries and form. The 27-year-old arrived from Monaco as a teenager in a move estimated to be worth £36 million.

Although, Martial has 89 goals in 307 appearances in all competitions. He has only scored 17 goals overall over the previous three seasons and only one in nine this season.

The United striker was on the fringes of Erik ten Hag’s plans and even spent the second part of the previous season on loan at Sevilla in La Liga.

Similar problems affected his stay in Spain. He only managed one goal in 12 games for the Seville club. This season, he earned two Premier League starts under Ten Hag.

What Has Been Reported About Martial?

Nevertheless, despite getting little playing time and the fact that his Red Devils’ “journey seems to have done a U-turn,” GiveMeSport as cited by Football365 asserts that Martial “has not given up on his Man Utd career.”

Ten Hag reacted he was prepared to sell the striker over the summer. But it is known that the Frenchman “is no longer a certainty to leave in the January transfer window.”

The Manchester United manager now “believes the French striker can play a significant role with United facing a heavy match schedule until Christmas”. As no club is yet to make a “suitable bid.”

Martial is a “diligent and committed worker in training and has not given up on his United career,” according to insiders who spoke with GiveMeSport.

United are currently 8th on the Premier League table, having won five games and lost 4 so far in the league campaign.
