Liverpool Are In Talks With Wolverhampton Boss Gary O’Neil To Replace Jurgen Klopp At Anfield

Gary O’Neil, the manager of Wolves, is being interviewed by Liverpool to take over as manager at Anfield in lieu of Jurgen Klopp.

That’s according to a shocking rumor that suggests O’Neil, who is only in his second season as manager, may be ready to make the big move to the Reds. His team, the Wolverhampton Wanderers, is presently ranked eleventh in the standings.

Liverpool’s presumed leader, Xabi Alonso, ruled himself out of the competition by committing to Bayer Leverkusen following Klopp’s departure at the end of the season.

Since then, other names, like Ruben Amorim, have been mentioned.

In a shocking report, it claims that O’Neil has interviewed for the Reds position. However, the report is qualified by the words, “it does not mean that O’Neil is the favourite and/or it’s definite that he will take over.”

According to FourFourTwo, this shocking claim may be accurate, as the Merseysiders are considering many possibilities ahead of a new chapter in Klopp’s tenure. However, it is very hard to corroborate either way.

It was recently suggested by This Is Anfield that O’Neil might also succeed Klopp.

Amorim is “in the mix… but not a shoo-in,” according to David Ornstein of the Athletic, who made the remark yesterday, implying that Liverpool was ready to make a choice independent of the general public’s opinion.

O’Neil has been a part of Molineux since taking Julen Lopetegui’s position in the summer.
