Arsenal Star Eyeing Imminent First-Team Return Following Comeback

Arsenal defender, Jurrien Timber is reportedly plotting an immediate return to the first-team action after his comeback for the team’s Under-21.

The 22-year-old has been sidelined since sustaining a serious knee injury on the first weekend of the season. Though he played 45 minutes against Blackburn at Ewood Park.

According to the Evening Standard, Timber scored an excellent goal after eight minutes by cutting inside from the left and curling a shot into the top corner. If he can stay fit, this could be a huge boost for Arsenal.

Playing anywhere in the back four, Mikel Arteta thinks his defensively aggressive abilities will offer his team an additional layer of depth.

After the game against Chelsea on Tuesday, Arsenal will have four games remaining, and Timber intends to play some part in them.

“I can’t wait,” he said. “The boys have been texting me already, so it’s going to be fun.

“I think we’re doing really well. The last couple of weeks have been tough, obviously out of the Champions League, but we’re still in the mix [in the title race], we’re still there.

“I’m glad that I can be a part of it and let’s see what the last couple of weeks can bring. I hope something beautiful,” Timber said.

The £38.5million signing had a strong 45 minutes, and his half-time substitution was prearranged.

Like Oleksandr Zinchenko, he tucked into midfield while playing left back.

“Even that felt strange,” said Timber when asked about his goal.

“I didn’t realise I was even scoring a goal, because I don’t score a lot, maybe that’s changed since my rehab – let’s see!”
