Keane Sends Plain Message To Liverpool Over Man City ‘Quality’

Manchester United legend, Roy Keane has called out Liverpool and other Premier League rivals to ‘sort themselves out’ as he tipped Manchester City to retain the league title for the fourth time.

At the moment, the Reds are the closest challengers trying to unseat Pep Guardiola’s team from the top spot in the English Premier League.

Despite Arsenal leading the league for the majority of the 2022/23 season, City won the league for the fifth time in six years. And Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday propelled them into second place – one point behind City.

At the end of last season, Jurgen Klopp’s side were 22 points behind the champions, having fallen significantly behind pace.

However, the 19-time English league champions have won eight of their first 12 games this season, enjoying a more solid start. In contrast, the Reds were in ninth place at this point last year having won half as many games.

According to Liverpool Echo, Keane isn’t swayed by the caliber of football being played in the Premier League. This is despite the fact Virgil van Dijk and co are gaining plaudits for their performance. And the Sky Sports pundit thinks City will win the Premier League easily once more.

What Did Keane Say About Liverpool’s Title Credentials?

“I think the standard hasn’t been great the last month or two in the Premier League,” Keane said speaking on The Stick to Football podcast.

“The goals being conceded, the quality, Man City are excellent but the other teams need to sort themselves out, I still can’t see beyond City even if they have some sort of blip. They’re strong enough.”

It will be fascinating to see if City win the league as they will become the first English side to be crowned the champions of the top-flight in four consecutive seasons.

After the international break, the Cityzens will be back in action as they are going to host the Reds in the early kickoff of matchday 13.
