Dybala would be a ‘magnificent’ signing for Man United – Owen Hargreaves

Manchester United have been urged to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus instead of Atletico Madrid‘s Antoine Griezmann by Owen Hargreaves.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a superb second season with the reigning Serie A champions, scoring 17 goals and making eight assists in all competitions.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of high-profile forwards, especially since Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury, with Griezmann being frequently mentioned as a potential target.

It is believed that the Frenchman has a €100 million (£85m) release clause in his current Atletico contract, which United would not shy away from paying.

Hargreaves, however, believes his former team should pursue another of Europe’s top attacking talent in Juventus’ Dybala, even though the Argentine has recently signed a new five-year contract.

He told BT Sport: “You have to look at what you have and what you desperately need, I think they need a Dybala-type player.

“Everybody speaks about Griezmann, I think Griezmann would be terrific. But I think Dybala, he’s a little bit younger, he’s going to be a superstar if he isn’t already.

“He would be magnificent. That star power that Ibra brought, I think Dybala could bring that as well.”

Although Dybala has been sensational for Juventus and is three years younger than Griezmann, there is a clear gap in class between the two when comparing their outputs this season.

The Frenchman has found the back of the net on much more regularity and is also the more creative player.

The former Palermo star has completed more take ons, though, suggesting that he is the better dribbler.
