“Three bits of bad news” from Sir Jim Ratcliffe could lead Erik ten Hag to leave Manchester United

According to reports, Erik ten Hag is one of the three managers Ajax is supposedly pursuing for the open managerial role at the club this summer. Given rumors that Ten Hag may be ready to leave Manchester United before he is fired, the other two names are bad news for Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ajax are one of the European heavyweights in the market for a new manager in the coming months following a turbulent campaign.

In July 2023, Maurice Steijn signed a three-year contract, but he left after less than four months. Since then, John van ‘t Schip and Hedwiges Maduro have assumed provisional leadership.

Since Ten Hag moved for United in the summer of 2022, the Amsterdam giants are currently looking for the perfect manager to help them break out of their current slump.

The Telegraaf reports that Ajax is down to three contenders for the position of manager this summer, with the Dutchman being one of them.

Ten Hag is allegedly joined in the frame by Francesco Farioli, the boss of OGC Nice, and Graham Potter. All three individuals have connections to INEOS and Ratcliffe.

According to ESPN, INEOS is preparing for the upcoming season with Ten Hag because, having taken over United’s football operations, they are reluctant to add the task of hiring a new manager to their already heavy plate.

However, alternative options are said to have been assessed, and Potter has prominently featured among the managers linked with replacing Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Farioli is currently in charge of Nice, INEOS’ other club, and has the Ligue 1 outfit battling for European qualification.
