Man United Optimistic Of Sealing Move For 21-Year-Old Defender

Manchester United are reportedly increasing in confidence to seal the signing of Everton defender, Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider as reported by The Hard Tackle, the Red Devils are interested in Branthwaite. United are willing to add a centre-back to their roster in the summer. And they are optimistic that they can get the 21-year-old Toffees defender for between £60 and £70 million.

Over the past 18 months, Branthwaite’s career has stabilized. The English central defender struggled to establish himself at Everton before seeing his situation turn around while on loan at PSV Eindhoven. And at last, he has made a name for himself in the Merseyside club’s first team squad.

It makes sense that the Old Trafford club are interested in Branthwaite. During the summer transfer window, the Red Devils will probably part ways with a number of central defenders. Both defenders, Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans, are expected to leave Old Trafford as free agents, so their futures there are uncertain. It also might not come as a surprise if Harry Maguire departs.

Therefore, the Red Devils have to find at least one new centre-back. Thus, Branthwaite has become a realistic target for United.

Additionally, it is said that the Premier League giants are looking for an early agreement to lock up the English defender for this summer.

Thus, a £60–70 million deal could be feasible. It will be interesting to see if United and Everton can reach a deal for that amount. The 21-year-old is currently the top centre-back target for the 20-time English top-flight champions.
