Chelsea Reacts To a Video That Is “Out Of Context” When Conor Gallagher Suffers Online Abuse

Chelsea has stated that a widely shared video shot prior to their game against Burnley has been taken “considerably out of context” and has denounced insults directed towards Conor Gallagher.

After a brief video of the Blues captain posing with two team mascots just prior to kickoff went viral, hateful remarks started to surface on Gallagher’s social media accounts.

Chelsea has since defended Gallagher and emphasized that they are a “diverse, inclusive club,” despite some fans’ interpretation of the video that suggested the player disregarded one of the mascots after trying to embrace him.

Chelsea Football Club is aware of a video clip that has been significantly taken out of context and is making the rounds on social media following Saturday’s match against Burnley, according to a statement sent by the club.

“It is totally intolerable the amount of hatred and slander that Conor Gallagher has received since then.

“We take great pride in being a welcoming, diverse club that welcomes people of all identities, cultures, and communities.”

In response to the video, Mauricio Pochettino stated that Gallagher’s fans do not get his intentions and that he is “upset.”

The response has upset me. The Argentinean stated, “No one wants to do something like this with this intention.” “I know Conor, and he’s a fantastic young man. Everything matters to him. I detest those who mistreat others on social media.

“Please give up. Each of us bears responsibility. How are you aware that Conor intends to disregard the mascot? It brings me great sadness. Abusers should not deserve to be. Come on, please.

In support of his teammate, Nicolas Jackson posted Chelsea’s message to Instagram.

Gallagher is anticipated to play in Thursday night’s Blues game against Manchester United.
