Brighton ‘In Talks With Chelsea Over Conor Gallagher Deal’

Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Following the sale of Alexis MacAllister to Liverpool, the Seagulls are looking to improve their midfield options, while Moises Caicedo appears to be on the verge of departing the Amex Stadium amid interest from Chelsea.

According to a recent report, Caicedo, 21, has agreed to move from the South Coast to West London, and a fee of £70m to £80m could be enough to lure him away this summer.

According to 90min, Brighton have begun talks with Chelsea about signing Gallagher, and they hope to finalize a permanent deal before the 2023-24 season.

As per the report, the Seagulls see Gallagher as a suitable substitute for Mac Allister, and the 23-year-old is excited about the prospect of representing Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the Europa League.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Newcastle United are likely to compete for Gallagher’s signing.

Nonetheless, it is believed that the Seagulls have a strong chance of signing the midfielder, who might be used as a makeweight in Chelsea’s deal to sign Caicedo.

Gallagher is one of several first-team players who Chelsea are willing to let go this summer as new head coach Mauricio Pochettino looks to cut his overloaded squad.

Indeed, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all been linked with other clubs in recent months, and it has already been established that Denis Zakaria will return to Juventus when his loan stay finishes.

However, Gallagher was never considered as a first-team regular, having started only 21 of his 45 games for the Blues in all competitions, scoring only three goals, and is now thought to be looking for regular starts elsewhere.
