Chelsea’s Kai Havertz ‘Gives Green Light’ To Arsenal Move

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has reportedly told Arsenal he is ready to join them this summer if a fee can be agreed.

Havertz finished his third season at Stamford Bridge with 32 goals and 15 assists in 139 games across all competitions.

With the majority of those appearances coming from down the center of the attack, particularly in the last campaign, the perception is that the Germany international has failed to justify a transfer fee that might eventually reach £71m.

However, it has become clear that the 24-year-old’s time with the West Londoners could be coming to an end.

Real Madrid initially shown interest in Havertz, only to fail to reach Chelsea’s valuation, which is somewhere around the sum that was paid under previous ownership in 2020.

Arsenal soon emerged as contenders for his signature, claiming the same stance as Real, but it appears that the Gunners will be able to sign the dynamic frontman in the coming weeks.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Havertz has ‘given the green light’ for Arsenal to come up with a contract offer.

Romano adds that personal terms will be agreed upon by both the 2022-23 Premier League runners-up and the player.

Much will rely on the reaction of Chelsea’s hierarchy, who are said to have Havertz’s asking price set at £75m.

However, a number of factors show that Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital will eventually have to bend their stances on players, most notably in order to meet all FFP criteria with the Premier League.

Havertz is also nearing the end of his contract and is unlikely to accept an extension, while Chelsea are eager to bring in fresh players for newly recruited head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
