Aston Villa are reportedly in talks to beat Chelsea to the transfer of Juventus midfielder, Douglas Luiz in this transfer window.
The 27-year-old is on loan from Juventus to Nottingham Forest, where he signed a one-year contract in August.
Due to hamstring issues earlier in the season, the Brazil international has only made eight games in the Premier League out of 14 appearances across all competitions.
Although his stint at Forest has been very forgettable thus far, it is evident that his reputation has not lessened because Chelsea and Villa are eager to sign him this month.

Aston Villa are reportedly in “active talks” with Juventus, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however they are also considering other midfield alternatives.
According to Sky Sports, Luiz has the option to change loan teams, although a long-term contract would only cost Villa “a fraction of the £43m (€50m)” they sold him to Juventus for in 2024.
Chelsea are considering loaning Luiz in an effort to expand their options in central midfield.
Following a move from Manchester City, Luiz was a vital member of the Villains from 2019 to 2024, making 204 appearances and scoring 22 goals.
He made 53 appearances in all competitions and scored 10 goals in his final season in 2023–2024.
Following a high-profile transfer to Turin in the summer of 2024, the Brazilian returned to the Premier League on loan this season after making 27 appearances for Juventus.
