Allardyce insists he won’t quit football despite losing England job

Former England manager Sam Allardyce has revealed he intends to return to football management and will not quit football.

The 61-year-old left his post as Sunderland manager in the summer to take charge of England, after a rather gruesome Euro 2016 for the Three Lions under Roy Hodgson.

However, Allardyce remarkably lasted just 67 days and one game, after an investigation this week uncovered findings linking the former Blackburn boss to a breach of rules.

The Telegraph investigation recorded Allardyce offering reporters posing as business men from a Far-East firm advice on how to get around transfer regulations.

Whilst many would opt to step out of the limelight for a long while after such a gruelling few days, Allardyce has told Sky Sports News he intends to return to management and will not quit the game.

The aforementioned report reveal that Allardyce has told them he feels “hurt” and it has all been a “huge misjudgement”.

Allardyce said: “I can’t put into words how sad I am to lose the England job. I know I’ve made a huge misjudgment.

“I only went to the hotel meeting as a favour for friend and agent Scott McGarvey.”

Allardyce notified them that he went to the meeting for McGarvey, simply because his friend was being offered a job with a £260,000-a-year salary and a company car, and was desperate to get it.

Allardyce also told Sky he has known McGarvey for roughly 2-3 decades and was just keen to help out a friend.

Allardyce was seen leaving his house this morning and is set to go on holiday with his family for a few weeks, to ‘reflect’ on what has happened.

Whilst Allardyce’s time in charge of England was one to forget, the former Newcastle United coach is still regarded as one of the best in what he does in England.

Gareth Southgate will take charge of England’s next four games, until the FA make a decision on the long-term future of the nation.
