Xavi Claims ‘Winning LaLiga is extraordinary’

After losing to Real Madrid 4-0 at home in their Copa Del Rey’s clash last Wednesday. Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez praised his team and said the Catalan club’s success in La Liga would be “extraordinary.”

The Blaugrana are on track to win LaLiga for the first time since 2019. Xavi’s team was eliminated from the Copa del Rey semifinals. This was after seeing their 1-0 first-leg lead vanish on a difficult night versus Madrid at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Barcelona can increase their lead over Madrid to 15 points. Provided they defeated Girona at home on Monday. This is after Madrid fell to Villarreal 3-2 on Saturday.

What Did Xavi Say About The Importance Of Winning The Laliga?

After being questioned about Wednesday’s Clasico loss, Xavi stated on Sunday, “We are talking about winning LaLiga.” “I don’t get it. Winning LaLiga is amazing.

“Winning LaLiga brings stability. I remember [former Real Madrid coach Zinedine] Zidane said after winning the Champions League that the objective was to win LaLiga.

“From the inside, we value greatly what we are doing against a really strong Madrid. Winning LaLiga is being minimised when for us it is extraordinary.”

When Xavi took over in November 2021, Barcelona was ninth in LaLiga. And he said:

“We value where we came from and where we are, especially against a great team like Madrid, the LaLiga and Champions League holders.”

“I can’t control how it’s viewed from the outside,” Four Four Two reported.

The Laliga title is the only trophy Barcelona look likely to be winning this season. They have already been eliminated in all cup competitions. The recent being the Copa del Rey in which they lost their semi-final tie against Real Madrid.

They have also been eliminated from two European competitions. Having been eliminated from the group stage of the UEFA Champions League and the play-off of the UEFA Europa League.
