Vinicius Jr Responds To Racist Chants In Madrid’s Defeat To Valencia

Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Jr has responded to racist chants from Valencia’s ultras as Real Madrid were defeated at the Mestella stadium.

Diego Lopez’s strike in the 33rd minute gave Valencia the much needed win as they ascended to 13th on the standings.

The win was overshadowed by a shocking event that ensued towards the end of the encounter. Some of the home crowd were seen making racial slur against Vinicius. And this made him react in a rash manner.

The 22-year-old, who was obviously upset, grabbed the official and pointed at the spectators he believed had assaulted him. Causing the game to be delayed in the second half for ten minutes.

After a fight with striker Hugo Duro, Vinicius was later dismissed for violent conduct in injury time.

The Brazilian international has taken to Twitter to make his feelings clear about the incident.

What Did Vinicius Jr Say After The Game?

He tweeted after the game: “It wasn’t the first time, nor the second, nor the third. Racism is normal in LaLiga. In football they think it’s normal, the federation does too – and the opponent encourages it.

“I’m so sad. The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi today belongs to racism.

“A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and which I love, but which agreed to export the image of a racist country to the world.

“I’m sorry for the Spaniards who don’t agree but today, in Brazil, Spain is known as a country of racists. And unfortunately, for something that happens each week, I have no defence. I let it happen.”
