USA And Mexico To Submit Bid To Co-Host 2027 Women’s World Cup

According to announcements made on Wednesday by the US Soccer Federation and the Mexican Football Federation, the United States and Mexico will jointly bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

The announcement was made on the last day for teams to express interest in holding the 32-team competition.

FIFA must receive official bidding agreements by May 19 and comprehensive bids by December 8. Next May, FIFA will choose the host country or countries for 2027.

In 2026, both nations will share hosting duties with Canada for the men’s World Cup. The 2015 Women’s World Cup was held in Canada.

The first Women’s World Cup since 32 teams were added will take place this summer in Australia and New Zealand.

The US women’s team is the two-time defending champion. Following their triumphs in 2015 and 2019 in Canada and France respectively.

What Did The Two Football Associations Say About The Bid?

US Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone said in a statement as reported by Daily Mail, ‘The United States has always been a global leader for the women’s game, and we would be honored to co-host the world’s premier event for women’s soccer along with Mexico.

‘Hosting the 2027 Women’s World Cup provides us an incredible opportunity to cap off two historic years of World Cup soccer in the CONCACAF region, helping us continue to grow the game among our confederation associations.

Mexican Football Federation president Yon de Luisa added in a statement, ‘Women’s football in Mexico has experienced sustained growth over the last five years and its development, both on and off the field, coupled with the female empowerment it has achieved and will continue to achieve, is one of the strategic priorities of the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol (FMF).

‘It is with pleasure that we are teaming up again with the US Soccer Federation in the pursuit of this World Cup for our region, which will undoubtedly be historic.’
