Tottenham Hotspur In Talks With Premier League Club For Target

According to talkSPORT, Tottenham Hotspur have begun negotiations with Leicester City for Newcastle United midfielder James Maddison.

Following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, Maddison is anticipated to leave this summer.

He has a year left on his contract and Newcastle have been interested in signing him since last year because Eddie Howe is a great supporter of the midfielder.

However, Tottenham are now willing to compete with Newcastle for the England international’s signature in the forthcoming transfer window.

Spurs are reportedly in negotiations with Leicester to bring Maddison to north London ahead of the new season.

Tottenham’s pursuit of the player is claimed to have been authorised by Ange Postecoglou, and the club is now attempting to negotiate a deal with Leicester.

Despite being relegated and Maddison’s contractual condition, the Foxes will not sell him for a low money.

Leicester are claimed to be asking for as much as £60m before agreeing to sanction Maddison’s sale.

Newcastle are not keen to meet that asking price and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham agree to play ball with Leicester.

Romano states that Postecoglou as of now is the leading candidate to become the next manager of Tottenham. Nothing is close to being finalized and the club still holds interest in former Spain manager Luis Enrique.
