Arsenal fans could be set for heartbreak as Manchester United have been made the favourites to sign Mesut Ozil next summer.
Ozil, who earns £140,000-a-week, has been at Arsenal since 2013 when he joined the Gunners from Real Madrid for a club record fee of £42.4 million, and there have been reports recently that a new contract is in the works.
However, the German – who won the World Cup in 2014 – has not yet put pen- to-paper which has led to many people believe that he could potentially be on his way out of the club next year.
The bookmakers are also taking notice of the situation too, with Ladbrokes now offering odds of 3/1 for Ozil to follow in Robin van Persie’s footsteps and sign for Man United next summer.
Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “It could be déjà-vu for Gooners, with Man United sniffing around yet another of Arsene Wenger’s aces.”
United fans could even get odds of 16/1 for the German midfielder to join the Red Devils in the upcoming January transfer window.
Meanwhile, in terms of the odds for his next club, United lead the way there too at 5/2. Manchester City and Chelsea are also both on the list at 10/1.
