Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Reece James, according to a report by the Spanish publication Fichajes. The relationships between the two parties have been depicted in conflict by recent updates.

However, the hard tackle, claims that the Merengues are prepared to pay €40 million to acquire the captain of Chelsea.

Reece James has had a turbulent time since graduating to Chelsea’s first team. In the past five years, a number of homegrown players have made the transition to the senior squad, including the 24-year-old. He has made 16 appearances for the Three Lions since breaking into the English national team.

Following Cesar Azpilicueta’s departure from Chelsea, the Englishman assumed the captaincy for the upcoming season. But this season, his injury problems have gotten worse, limiting him to just 452 minutes of playing time in nine games. Real Madrid is eager to sign James, though, and his stock is still high.
