Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino at the end of the season.
While Los Blancos prepare for their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea, they have had a disappointing La Liga season by their own high standards.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are 13 points behind leaders Barcelona with 10 games remaining, while Atletico Madrid’s recent resurgence has left them just one point clear of third place in the standings.
At a time when Ancelotti’s long-term future is being questioned, a recent report stated that Real Madrid were unlikely to make any major signings over the off-season.
That was in reference to paying nine figures for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham or Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
According to El Nacional, Real may try to negotiate a deal for Firmino in the coming weeks and months.
The Brazil international has already stated that his eight-year affiliation with Liverpool will come to an end when his contract ends at the end of June.
The 31-year-old has 11 goals and five assists in the Premier League and Champions League despite no longer being Liverpool’s first choice and struggling with injuries this season.

Firmino’s most recent effort came on Sunday, when he netted the equalizer in Liverpool’s exciting 2-2 draw with top-flight leaders Arsenal, demonstrating his menace off the bench.
According to the report, Real are not willing to sign a player without top-level experience or pay an enormous sum for a striker at this time.
Firmino, on the other hand, is already regarded as a Liverpool legend, having scored 109 goals and assisted 79 times in 359 games across all competitions.
