Rashford, Martinez Return To Training Against Arsenal Clash At Old Trafford

In front of Manchester United’s match against Arsenal on Sunday, Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford have resumed their training sessions at Carrington.

Martinez hopes to get some experience in the final three Premier League games, maybe even as soon as Arsenal, and has his sights set on playing in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25. This information was first reported by Mail Sport earlier this week.

This season, Martinez has only made 11 appearances. After sustaining a knee ligament injury against West Ham four games into his comeback in February, he required a second operation to fix his broken metatarsal.

In March, he played one game again against Brentford before spraining his calf in training.

The fact that Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Willy Kambwala are also out with injuries has made the former Ajax player’s absence much more noticeable.

Alongside backup center defender Casemiro, Evans made his comeback at Crystal Palace on Monday, but things didn’t go as planned as United suffered their worst loss of the year.

Mail Online reports that Ten Hag will be hoping that Varane or Maguire can make a comeback in time to play with Martinez at Wembley Stadium against City.

Rashford hasn’t played in the FA Cup semifinal since hobbling out of the match against Coventry, missing the previous three matches against Burnley, Sheffield United, and Palace.

The England striker, who made his Premier League debut and scored twice against the Gunners in 2016, is on line to make his 400th game for United against Arsenal.
