‘Phenomenal’ Isco does things that nobody else can – Zidane

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has praised the performance of Isco describing him as “phenomenal” against Deportivo de La Coruña.

Los Blancos returned to winning ways after their narrow defeat to arch-rivals and title challengers Barcelona a few days earlier.

When reflecting on his team’s performance, the French coach made sure to compliment the 25-year-old midfielder.

“Isco was phenomenal. He does things on the pitch that not everybody can,” Zidane said after their 6-2 win at Estadio Riazor.

“The [Depor] fans congratulated him, I am happy for him.”

Isco has struggled to hold down a regular berth with the 11-time European Cup winners this season.

However, when called upon, he’s rarely disappointed and the Spanish international paid tribute to the fringe players many of whom started against Deportivo on Wednesday evening.

“Good to have 23 starters practically. Whoever plays it is not so different. Madrid squad is the best in the world.”

Isco, who played his 184th game for the club since joining from Malaga in 2013, was among the goals for Real as they look to win a 33rd domestic championship.

Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez who managed a brace, Lucas and Casemiro also scored as Zidane’s men drew level with Barcelona at the top of the table albeit with a game in hand.

Next up for the club from the Spanish capital is a visit from Valencia before turning their focus on attempting to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions League titles.
