Pep Guardiola: ‘Bernardo Silva Will Stay At Man City This Summer’

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has stated that Bernardo Silva will “stay” at the club despite rumours of a £59m bid from Paris Saint-Germain.

Guardiola has managed to put an end to speculations linking Silva with a move away from Manchester City, insisting the midfielder is “absolutely” staying at the club.

Guardiola was clear in his press conference ahead of Crystal Palace’s Premier League visit on Saturday, dismissing rumours of an offer from PSG that had surfaced on Thursday, with City alleged to have rejected it.

Bernardo, who has been at City since 2017, has fans at Barcelona, including manager Xavi, as well as PSG, but it appears his manager has determined where his future will be in the short term.

Guardiola stated:  “Bernardo Silva will stay at Man City, there are no negotiations. He will stay here. We don’t have any phone call from any club regarding Bernardo Silva. That’s why he will stay. I tell you, he will stay.”

While the 28-year-old could play in Saturday’s Premier League match, there are concerns about Kalvin Phillips’ fitness ahead of the Bournemouth match.

Guardiola refused to confirm whether Phillips would be available for the weekend, saying: “We train this afternoon, and I will be able to see the fitness of everyone after that. For now, I cannot tell you.”

City will try to retain their spotless start to the season against Bournemouth on Saturday after collecting seven points in their first seven Premier League games.
