Netherlands Defeat Belgium To Finish Top Of Nations League Group, Qualify For Final Four

Netherlands defeated Belgium 1-0 to finish their Nations League campaign undefeated, with Virgil van Dijk scoring the game-winning goal.

The Liverpool defender made the difference for Louis van Gaal’s team by leaping over the Belgian defence to meet a corner and head in the winning goal.

Van Dijk has faced criticism as a result of Liverpool’s challenging start to the season. The center-back, though, was in excellent form for the national team and showed he still had it in him by scoring the game-winning goal.

With five victories out of six, the victory assures that the Dutch end the Nations League campaign unbeaten. Belgium, meanwhile, comes in second place, losing twice to the Oranje.

With the victory, Netherlands have sealed their place in the final four of the UEFA Nations League.

Croatia and the Netherlands have become the first sides to book their place in the final four after topping their groups.

Croatia and the Netherlands will line up in next June’s UEFA Nations League finals with two other unconfirmed teams.

Oranje have no more games scheduled before the World Cup in November. This means their next match will be against Senegal in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
