Mourinho Responds To ‘Fair’ Chelsea Fan Chants As Romano Confirms He ‘Wants’ Management Return

With Mauricio Pochettino under growing pressure, Jose Mourinho responded to Chelsea fans screaming his name throughout recent games.

Since departing from Serie A powerhouse AS Roma at the beginning of this year, the former Chelsea manager has been unemployed.

Mourinho back at Stamford Bridge?

After leaving Roma, Mourinho has been connected to a possible return to Chelsea, with reports in Spanish media suggesting Pochettino is being replaced.

The former head coach of Tottenham Hotspur joined Chelsea in the summer, and his first season at Stamford Bridge has not been easy.

With victories over Newcastle United and Leicester City prior to the international break, Pochettino was under less pressure, but the Chelsea fanbase is not entirely behind him.

During a recent 2-2 tie with Brentford, Chelsea fans were heard chanting Mourinho’s name. The seasoned manager has said that the supporters are “normally fair.”

“My first impression is that, in my opinion, the greatest thing about football is its supporters,” Mourinho remarked in an interview with Fabrizio Romano.

“Generally, they are fair,” the reason being that football fans spend money on the game rather than making it! Their passion for football, and particularly for their clubs, often leads them to spend money that they need for the family and to make sacrifices.

Thus, they are usually fair. The dislike that the team’s supporters have for the coach or players isn’t due to their good looks or good looks alone.

“Normally they are fair…”

“In my case, independent of results – of course I had the luck always to have something to celebrate, something for the fans to have a good memory of me – but I think something that they see is when you are committed to them.”

Romano has confirmed that Mourinho is “super keen on a new opportunity” but it’s too “early” to predict where he could end up.

“I was delighted to get the chance to interview Jose Mourinho yesterday. It was a fantastic opportunity to speak to one of the modern managerial greats. Jose was in great form, ready to restart as soon as possible, super keen on new opportunity,” Romano told Caught Offside.

“We discussed topics like managing the Portuguese national team and managing clubs in Saudi Arabia, but for now there’s nothing to report on his next move, even if he seemed clearly keen to get back to another job after recently leaving Roma.

“As soon as I’ll know about clubs interested, I’ll post the story as always. Now it’s March, still early, let’s wait and see but for sure he wants to return to management this year.”
