Michael Owen Brands Ian Wright ‘Smug’ In Debate Over Liverpool And Arsenal Title Chances

During a discussion about whether Arsenal can win the Premier League this season, Michael Owen called Ian Wright “smug.”Reported By Titrepress.

On March 10, the Gunners and Liverpool tied 1-1, placing the Gunners atop the table based on goal differential. They are hoping to surpass Man City, who overcame a late deficit to win their fifth Premier League title in six years, having won eight straight games by an overall score of 33–4.

When Arsenal visits the Etihad Stadium to play City on March 31, it will be the greatest test of their resolve. With nine games remaining, they will lead Pep Guardiola’s team by four points if they win that game.

Playing devil’s advocate, Owen talked about the title race on the Kelly and Wrighty Show. “We’ve always been told the old analogy that the best team will win the Premier League,” he remarked. “It’s always told to us. Are we really declaring that someone is the best if they win this year by a point or on goal differential? The best team won’t necessarily win it this year, in my opinion.

“Manchester City is the best team, in my opinion. Although Manchester City has been the best team for many years, I believe Liverpool to be the most interesting team to watch. However, the best team won’t always win the league. Arsenal could be the culprit.

“However, if you’re looking at Arsenal, they do have the best defense and this goalscoring record,” Kelly Cates continued. Observing Wright’s response, Owen burst out laughing and exclaimed, “You’re so smug!”
