Mason Greenwood Is ‘Firmly In The Race’ To Join Atletico Madrid

Mason Greenwood of Manchester United is allegedly interested in joining Atletico Madrid permanently during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old joined La Liga team Getafe on loan after receiving word from the Red Devils last summer that his time with the team was coming to an end.

Greenwood has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, tallying four assists and seven goals for the Spanish team.

According to current plans, the Englishman will rejoin Man United this summer; his deal at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the 2024–25 season.

Though it is unlikely, there have been hints that he might be able to rejoin the Red Devils team.

Given that Barcelona is preparing a transfer and is considered the favorite, it has been said that Greenwood ‘dreams’ of playing for the reigning La Liga champions.

The club is unlikely to have the funds to complete a deal, despite Getafe’s stated intention to sign him permanently. Real Sociedad and Valencia are also rumored to be keeping an eye on the situation.

Greenwood has reportedly been added to Atletico’s summer roster, with Diego Simeone’s team planning to recruit at least one forward, according to The Telegraph.

According to the source, Barcelona’s financial difficulties might still prohibit them from signing him, which might allow Atletico to jump to the top of the queue should Greenwood indicate a desire to do so to remain in Spain, where he is believed to have settled alongside his family.
