Marcus Rashford ‘Shreds Barcelona Deal’ As Manchester United Star Compelled To Act

Marcus Rashford is apparently prepared to go to extraordinary measures to secure a permanent move to Barcelona. The Manchester United forward, who spent the 2025/26 season on loan at the Camp Nou, intends to continue in Catalonia beyond the summer.

While Barcelona and United have been in talks for months, they have yet to reach an agreement, leaving Rashford’s future uncertain. United are remaining hard on their £26.2 million value of the player, which Barcelona is now refusing to meet. However, Rashford is now thought to be willing to make substantial concessions to assist enable the move.

According to Spanish site Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has already signed in principle to a three-year contract with Barcelona that includes a 40% reduction in his Old Trafford pay.

However, with discussions coming to a standstill, he is now willing to forego that agreement in favor of a five-year contract, believing it may be the only way to make the move financially viable.

Barcelona’s well acknowledged financial woes have complicated discussions, with the club preferring another loan agreement over a permanent contract. The difficulty is how the £26.2 million cost will be amortized throughout Rashford’s contract term, which will impact the club’s finances.

United, on the other hand, refuse to accept another temporary transfer and insist that Rashford either go permanently or stay with the club.

As a consequence, Rashford is willing to prolong the proposed deal for five years, allowing Barcelona to spread the transfer expenditure over a longer period and significantly reduce the yearly financial commitment.
