There was much discussion regarding Real Madrid’s lack of a representative in the Spanish national team at the start of the FIFA World Cup. Ultimately, it was the first time that a single member of the team failed to make the cut.
But Florentino Perez made an unusual move to turn that around: he signed Marc Cucurella from Chelsea overnight, strengthening the left-back position and securing a regular Spanish international.
Cucurella has played the entire ninety minutes of both of Spain’s World Cup games thus far. In addition to helping the side maintain both clean sheets, he has been a motivating attacking outlet in the final third.
