Nico Paz’s future has become quite the story this summer but not for the reasons that Real Madrid supporters first anticipated.

Paz, a Los Blancos academy graduate, had extraordinary success at Como. Real Madrid reportedly had a deal in place to bring him home after learning of the news.

However, everything changed when Jose Mourinho was appointed and the manager made it obvious that new midfielders needed to be signed. Paz insisted on staying at Como for a longer period of time and refused to return for a bench role.

However, Real Madrid has turned their attention to a new endeavor due to the club’s need for sales and the chance to sign Paz for a cheap.

The current plan is to re-sign Paz for the €10 million clause and resell him for more than €50 million.

Giants in Serie A are interested

If Real Madrid is successful in their attempt to recruit Paz, Inter Milan, the reigning Serie A winners, have emerged as serious contenders, according to a recent report by Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Argentine star is seen by the Italian team as a superior player who can start in their title-defense dynamics, and they are prepared to do “anything” to acquire his services this summer.

Therefore, before Inter Milan can enter the game, Real Madrid must formally activate their buyback clause. They will go on the attack and try to sign the player at any costs once the clause is activated.

Inter Milan are aware of Paz’s talent and are desperate to sign him as evidence of the player’s caliber because they have personally witnessed the player in Serie A.

An issue with the clause?

However, Paz’s contractual provisions may contain a troublesome clause that could impede Real Madrid’s intentions, as was reported earlier this week.

In fact, a condition in the player’s contract that specifies a 12-week period between the player’s return to Real Madrid and a potential departure from the team is being discussed.

Los Blancos would not be able to buy the player back and move him to Inter Milan in the same window due to the summer transfer window timeframes, so the second operation might have to wait until January.

It goes without saying that the aforementioned clause will ultimately determine whether or not the move is approved.
