Manchester United And Tottenham To Go Head-To-Head For Oblak

Manchester United could head-to-head with Tottenham for the acquisition of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, according to reports.

The two Premier League clubs are both interested in the Slovenian goalkeeper as they weigh their alternatives for the position.

After more than ten years as a United player, David de Gea’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer. Meanwhile, De Gea’s compatibility with Erik ten Hag’s style of play, which emphasizes building up from the back, raises some doubts.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with Spurs runs until 2024. However, the club is already searching for a long-term replacement.

Given that he has six years left on his deal at the Civitas Metropolitano, Oblak, who is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, won’t be cheap.

The Evening Standard reports that United has requested Oblak’s representatives to keep them updated about the goalkeeper’s plans.

Tottenham are said to have also ranked Oblak highly on their list of prospective replacements for Lloris. Lloris celebrated his 10-year anniversary in north London in August.

Atletico Madrid are said to be open to offers for Oblak, who has been with the club since 2014.
