After spending last season on loan at Girona, the winger will not be loaned out again. Due to City’s links with the Spanish club, this might speak well for Guardiola’s side’s prospects of signing the Spaniard.

Despite this, the attacker is reportedly ‘very popular’ amongst teams in the Premier League, although City are the only team mentioned in the report from the Premier League.

Real Betis, managed by former City boss Manuel Pellegrini, are also thought to have an interest in Riquelme.
