Man United Will Pull Out Of Race For Midfielder If Chelsea Accept £55M Bid

Manchester United will walk away from Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo if Chelsea accept the £55 million bid for Mason Mount from them.

After rejecting a third offer for Mount, Chelsea will hold further discussions with United in the ensuing 48 hours.

That bid was for approximately £55 million. But Chelsea wanted £65 million or more to allow the England international to leave the club.

Given that Mount has 12 years left on his deal and that the team has explored other options. That is a sum United will not take into consideration.

21-year-old Caicedo had a standout season for Brighton this past season. And the Seagulls have officially acknowledged that they will let him go for the right price.

In an effort to acquire Caicedo, United had a preliminary meeting with Brighton earlier this week. If a compromise with Chelsea regarding Mount cannot be reached, United are willing to open negotiations with Brighton.

Compared to Mount, Caicedo would be substantially more expensive. The south Coast club is requesting over £80 million for the Ecuadorian international.

In order to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s midfield, United supporters had hoped that Caicedo and Mount would move to Old Trafford this summer.

The Daily Mail via Metro claims that if a deal for Mount is finalized, United will back out of a move to sign Caicedo.

This is as a result of the club’s limited summer spending, which is estimated to be around £120 million.
