Man City Front-Line Move For €40M Rated Midfielder

Manchester City have reportedly entered the race for Celta Vigo midfielder, Gabri Veiga in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea. But it seems the Cityzens are now in the front-line to secure his signature.

Mateo Kovacic has already been acquired by City from Chelsea. While the move for Declan Rice, who appears destined for Arsenal, has been abandoned.

According to Manchester Evening News, Pep Guardiola is reportedly interested in signing the versatile Veiga despite the arrival of Kovacic.

The player, who can play both the six and eight positions, is rumored to have a €40 million (£34.6 million) release clause in his contract with the Spanish club.

In his 36 La Liga games during the most recent season, Veiga scored 11 goals and provided four assists. He has only played for Celta Vigo so far in his career.

Veiga’s probable transfer to the Premier League has generated a lot of rumors. With Manchester United and Newcastle have also been named as potential suitors.

The Spain Under-21 international, though, was less keen in discussing his future earlier this month. Highlighting his emphasis on helping his nation succeed at the European Championship this summer.

“I’m not here to talk about my future, only my present,” he said. “I don’t think about my future, I want to live in the present and the national team. What I want for my future is to be in the European Championship, because there is still the final list. And then to win it. I am here in the national team, in a very nice challenge.”
