Man United Target Breaks Silence On Transfer Links

Porto goalkeeper, Diogo Costa spoke about his future at the club amid transfer links to Manchester United.

According to Manchester Evening News, the shot stopper said he ‘hopes to continue’ at the Portuguese club as the race to sign him continues to get hot.

Due to rumors of an Old Trafford move, Costa has received widespread support to leave Portugal before the upcoming season. After numerous errors this season, David de Gea’s future at United looks uncertain.

The Spaniard’s contract expires this month. Although it was believed that a renewal with less terms is imminent. Erik ten Hag, emphasizing that he wants competition in every position on the team, declined to name him as his No. 1 shot-stopper for the upcoming season.

He said of De Gea last week: “I will not say he’ll always be my No.1 because in a club like Man United there must be competition in all positions. You can’t do it with 11 players. It is impossible. You need double positions.”

Costa, 23, is renowned for his footwork skills, he kept 16 clean sheets for Porto this season. Including the domestic cup final against Braga on Sunday. The shot stopper was questioned about the rumors linking him to United after the game.

He responded: “That’s the internet. It is a happiness and an honour to play for my favourite club. What they say is what they say. There is nothing concrete. I have a contract until 2027 and I hope to continue, let’s see.”

Some Man United supporters are growing increasingly worried about who will man the goal for them. As the UEFA Champions League returns to Old Trafford and a potential title push is expected.
