Harry Maguire Reaction After FA Cup Defeat Sums Up His Future At Man United

In the wake of Manchester United’s FA Cup loss, Harry Maguire has reportedly severed ties with his teammates.

Manchester City defeated the Red Devils 2-1 at Wembley. And Erik ten Hag admitted the team was “broken” following the defeat. Maguire’s future is still up in the air. So he was forced to sit on the bench and observe the entire 90 minutes.

With only eight Premier League starts, Maguire has lost his spot under Ten Hag. Though, he still serves as the club’s captain. After the final whistle, he was seen pulling off his tracksuit to reveal his playing outfit. Instead of inspiring his teammates after the game, he stayed in the dugout.

Mirror Football claims that the England defender spoke with technical director Darren Fletcher as questions about his future lingered. With a summer departure becoming more inevitable, his selection for the team on Saturday might be his last.

At the center of the defense, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof started. This is because Lisandro Martinez, who would typically be the first choice, was out due to injury. Luke Shaw has also been used as a center-half ahead of Maguire, highlighting his decline in the pecking order.

Maguire, 30, is trying to revive his club career and has been linked to both clubs within and outside of England. Despite Gareth Southgate’s prior position that players must be playing frequently to earn participation, he continues to be a favorite with the Three Lions.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the defender was a favorite. Despite suggestions to occasionally remove Maguire from consideration for the first team, Ole remained loyal to the player for whom he paid a record fee.
