Man United Players ‘Don’t Want Mason Greenwood Back In Changing Room’

Manchester United players reportedly do not want Mason Greenwood back into the dressing room for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old was scheduled to stand trial in November on charges of attempted rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, and assault resulting actual bodily harm.

All charges stemmed from the same woman, who made a series of allegations against Greenwood online in January 2022, and the striker was immediately arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

Greenwood was initially suspended by Man United until further notice, and after that, he was detained again on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats before being released on bail.

However, all charges against Greenwood were dropped earlier this week, and Manchester United is currently conducting their own internal investigation before deciding on their next course of action.

The former England international was added to the Red Devils’ updated Premier League squad list after the January transfer window closed, but according to The Sun, Erik ten Hag’s players are wary of his return due to the impact it could have on the team’s harmony.

A source allegedly told the publication: “The players are open to him returning to the team, but the scrutiny could be massively distracting. The dressing room is the happiest it has been for ages and no one wants to rock the boat.”

Man United have taken 42 points from 21 Premier League games this season without Greenwood, placing them third in the table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal and just three points behind Manchester City.

Ten Hag’s side defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at home on Saturday, but Greenwood is still earning £100,000 per week while he is suspended.
