Man United £50M Bid For Striker ‘Laughed Off’ By Premier League Rivals

Manchester United reportedly made a £50 million offer for Brighton and Hove Albion teenage striker, Evan Ferguson, but they see their bid ‘laughed off’ by the club.

In 34 senior games for the Seagulls, the Republic of Ireland international has scored 14 goals and contributed four assists. Making him one of the Premier League’s most intriguing youngsters.

Last month, Roberto Di Zerbi’s team defeated Newcastle United easily thanks to Ferguson’s hat-trick. The treble made him one of the youngest players in Premier League history to accomplish the feat.

According to ESPN as reported by Manchester World, Ferguson and England captain Harry Kane were both contemplated by the Red Devils in their hunt for a new offensive threat before Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund eventually moved to Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils failed with their £50 million bid for the Seagulls forward.

United may decide to rekindle their interest in Ferguson at some point. But the south coast club CEO, Paul Barber has already made it clear, their stands about the player’s future.

He told talkSPORT: “In Evan’s case, it’ll be in at least five years’ time!

“Ultimately the technical staff are making the key decisions on where a player is in his development. Whether he needs more first team games or needs to go on loan. Or if we need to trade earlier or later.

“Ultimately it’s going to be a collective decision. But it’s driven by the technical staff and we’re relying on them to make those judgements regarding the players’ development.”
