Keane Hits Out At Man United Players Following Coventry Win

Roy Keane launched a heavy criticism on Manchester United players following their underwhelming performance in the win over Coventry City in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

After defeating Championship rivals on penalties, United made it to the final, where they will take on Manchester City.

Erik ten Hag’s team led 3-0 with goals from Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, and Scott McTominay. But with 19 minutes remaining in regulation time, they were pegged back. After 30 more minutes in which they might have lost it, penalty kicks decided the game.

Victor Torp had a potential winner disqualified for offside following VAR’s intervention. But United won on penalties. In front of the Manchester supporters, their players sheepishly celebrated. And Keane can understand why after such a lackluster performance.

According to ManchesterEveningNews, the iconic ex-United captain told ITV Sport: “For the United players and supporters, they weren’t really going over the top with their celebrations because that they know they were lucky. They had the game won at 3-0 and were almost embarrassed to win at the end. They are in the cup final and got the job done.

“Every time I see this United team, I don’t like what I see. They are hard to like.”

Keane, 52, added: “They just play in moments, we mentioned it after the game. You go on about leadership and character. I don’t see any of this in this United group.

“It’s game-management when you are 3-0 up, you don’t give a Championship club any sort of hope they can get back in the game.

“But that’s what they do, they give up chances and goals, and we’ve seen it all season so I don’t see why we are that surprised. My goodness they rode their luck again.”
