Juventus, Tottenham Want To Sign Man United Flop

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in beating Juventus to the signature of Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial.

Martial joined the Red Devils from Monaco in September 2015 for the then-highest fee paid for a teenager which was £36 million. But the 28-year-old failed to reach his full potential at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old has made 317 appearances for Man Utd across all competitions, scoring 90 goals. However, he has struggled with injuries and bad form during his time in the Premier League.

Due to his expiring contract at the end of the current campaign, Martial will be leaving Old Trafford in the summer. That is according to a report earlier this week by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano said: “Anthony Martial is going to leave – he had some opportunities in Turkey and France in the January transfer window. Let’s see what will happen in the next months but for sure he’s not staying at Man United.”

Furthermore, Football 365 maintains that Ange Postecoglou is causing Juventus transfer “issues” because Tottenham are “interested” in Martial as well as the Serie A team.

However, given Martial’s past poor performances and his propensity to “mope and moan,” Tottenham and Juventus will be cautious given former Premier League manager Martin O’Neill’s observations about the Man Utd forward.

Speaking earlier this season, O’Neill told Ladbrokes: “You just don’t feel as though, first and foremost, they’re going to score bags of goals.

“For all of the talented players they’ve got going forward, you’re not confident in them at the moment. Anthony Martial’s demeanour would probably irritate you if you’re a manager.

“He just seems to mope and moan. He doesn’t do enough, he complains when he’s coming off. It’s Manchester United. You’ve got to be better.”
