Guardiola Reveals What Happened When De Bruyne Told Him To “Shut Up”

During Manchester City’s historic 4-0 victory over Real Madid at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola got into a heated argument with Kevin De Bruyne and he has moved to shed light on the situation.

After beating the Spanish powerhouses 5-1 over the course of two legs in the semifinal, City are now only one game away from winning the Champions League.

Guardiola’s club are also on track to become the first club to win the treble since City’s local rivals Manchester United in 1999.

Bernardo Silva’s two goals in the first half gave City the lead over Real Madrid. Afterwards, a Manuel Akanji goal and a late Julian Alvarez goal sealed the victory.

Even though Carlo Ancelotti’s team hardly gave City any trouble through the whole game, their little improvement after the break was enough to have Guardiola anxiously roaming around his coaching area trying to direct every play.

The City manager was seen losing his cool with De Bruyne after the Belgian lost the ball.

Remarkably, television cameras spotted the playmaker’s aggressive reply. He was seen screaming back “shut up, shut up”, having surrendered possession.

Guardiola analysed the situation after the game, as he told Spanish broadcaster Movistar: “At 2-0 we rushed a lot.

“Right after the break [Ilkay] Gundogan lost a ball. Kevin made three transitions that weren’t necessary. And we rushed a lot when we had to do the opposite, sink them and turn them, sink them and turn them.

“But it’s normal. It gets close, you rush, and it has cost us more. Although in general we have had an extraordinary game.”

City’s immediate focus will now turn to wrapping up the Premier League.
