FPL Gameweek 2 Recap: Mbeumo Makes The Difference, iSoccer Winners

FPL Gameweek 2 Recap: Mbeumo Makes The Difference, iSoccer Winners

Fast-moving FPL managers are spending money on Bryan Mbeumo (£6.6m) and Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) in an effort to benefit from Brentford’s favorable early schedule.

Mbeumo and Wissa, who presently rank among the top three scorers in Fantasy, have benefited from Ivan Toney’s (£8.0m) extended ban.

Elsewhere, James Maddison(£7.6m) handed his new and existing owners a fright on Saturday evening after being spotted on crutches and in a protective boot.

Goal scoring machine, Erling Haaland (£14.0m) was reduced to half-chances, even if those half-chances were the type of low-xG opportunities he has made a habit of scoring.

However, putting in a convincing audition for City’s upcoming run was Phil Foden (£7.5m).

Foden created seven chances against Newcastle, his best-ever total from open play in one game. Three of Haaland’s four opportunities were supplied by Foden, who also claimed the assist for Alvarez’s strike.

Meanwhile, two talking points emerged from this Selhurst Park encounter. Firstly, the much-owned Gabriel (£5.0m) was once again left on the bench by Mikel Arteta.

And, by securing a clean sheet and bonus points, William Saliba (£5.1m) extended the early points gap between the pair.

Secondly, the only goal came from an Arsenal penalty. But rather than Bukayo Saka (£8.6m), it was captain Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) who stepped up to convert past Sam Johnstone (£4.5m). Much to the dissapointment of Saka owners.

Moving on, the Gameweek 3 deadline is Friday, 25th August @ 18:30WAT.

Before The Winners…

First things first, WELCOME! A brand new FPL season is here, and pushing on on the promises made last season, here we are again.

This season is a tad different from the last. While the weekly winning category remains a thing (albeit with a much more juicy increase), the monthly winning category has been discontinued.

The League format also moves away from a monthly one to a “free” and “open” full-season league and everyone stands a chance to win their share of the N500,000 pot winnings made available.

More details on the weekly, and end-of-season prize money can be found in the last Fantasy Premier League article.

You can join the League using this link or you can use use code – ol07ih. The League will be locked from new entries immediately after the first International Break of the season.

Managers should also comment their team names under this post immediately after joining with the links for CONFIRMATION. Note that, this is important this season.

The GW2 Winners

Gameweek 1 was over before the iSoccer 23/24 mini-league was created, thus we will be having just 37 weeks to celebrate.

Not like that will put a stop to the competition for top 5 spots every week, and we can’t wait to see how this season pans out!

And for the first set of weekly winners in the 23/24 iSoccer mini-league, these are the lucky five (5):

1.    Ugochukwu Ogoegbunam (Project Mbappe)

2.   Adeniji Rilwan Kayode (ARAB-KAY WARRIORS)

3.   Mercy Ajayi (Mz_Hayjay)

4.   Habeeb Kuranga (Powerful FC)

5.   AspasB DONALD (Unshakable FC)

All winners are to send in comments under this article, after which the iSoccer FPL admins will reach out. If you’ve previously commented your team name, you do not necessarily have to re-comment.

Please Note: Winners will be contacted directly by the iSoccer FPL admins ONLY if they have dropped a comment or sent in their team names in the first Fantasy Premier League post of the season. Winners who haven’t fulfilled any of the above requirements would have their win passed down to a next eligible manager (who has sent in comments) using the league table rankings.

This will be done on the next Gameweek’s Deadline Day (provided winners didn’t comment still). And once payments are made to another manager, it becomes irreversible.

Net points for the week will be used in picking winners, rather than gross points.

Also Note: Each player is entitled to only ONE team. Therefore, payments will be denied from players with more than one team, and passed to next manager.

All players are also advised to follow the social media handles and to visit the iSoccer website frequently.
