Fenerbahce president confirms Nani will join Valencia

Former Manchester United winger Nani is to join Valencia from Fenerbahce, the Turkish club’s president has confirmed.

Nani is currently with the Portugal national side at Euro 2016 and has scored two goals in four appearances in what has been an impressive tournament for the 29-year-old.

The attacker, who left United permanently in 2015 to join Fenerbahce, is now to move to Valencia – who were previously managed by Gary Neville before his sacking late last season.

“Nani will play for Valencia next season,” said Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim told AMK Sport.

The transfer will happen before June 30, according to Yildrim, which is the date when his buyout clause would increase to €8.5 million.

Nani scored eight goals in 27 appearances in the Turkish top flight last season, and has been in impressive form throughout his time since leaving Old Trafford.

The Portugal winger, who has started every game for his national side at Euro 2016 alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, also added eight assists in the 2015/16 Turkish Super Liga campaign.

The forward now looks set to take on a new career direction in La Liga, and will player under new Valencia boss Pako Ayesteran if the transfer does indeed go through.
