Ex Roma Boss Set To ‘Take Up’ Managerial Role Again

Jose Mourinho, who was fired by Roma in January, has stated that his goal is to return to management this summer.

The Portuguese coach led the Italian team to the Europa League final of the previous season after they had won the Europa Conference League in 2022.

However, on January 16, with Roma languishing in ninth place in the Serie A standings, he was fired by owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin.

Following his dismissal, Mourinho stated he was prepared to return “one day” in an interview with Fabrizio Romano as reported by Mail Online

The former manager of Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United stated that while he will be patient in selecting his next position, his goal is now to return this summer.

“I am prepared to begin; sometimes, as a club, you feel like you need to take a break or reflect,” Mourinho remarked.

In this instance, I was prepared to leave the day after I departed.

“I’m really ready, but I can’t accept something merely because it feels right and I’m passionate about returning. I can’t make the wrong decision, though.

“I must exercise patience. “It’s going to happen in March or April? It’s really hard, and I want to start next summer.”

Earlier this year, Mourinho disclosed that he had declined offers to coach in Saudi Arabia and to oversee the Portuguese national team.

The 61-year-old stated that this was the second time he had declined a national position; the first time was when he was asked to accept a part-time position while he was at Real Madrid.

He turned down a Saudi club’s offer after announcing his dedication to Roma and European football.

Jose Mourinho Comments On Move To Saudi Arabia

Days after Mourinho was fired by Roma, he was linked to a January move to Saudi Arabian team Al-Shabab.

At the time, reports stated that Mourinho had declined a request to take a break. Nonetheless, Mourinho has declined to rule out moving to Saudi Arabia in the future.

He asserted that managers and athletes had moved to the kingdom because of Cristiano Ronaldo, who had “opened the door.”

In January 2023, Ronaldo made a sensational transfer to Saudi Arabian team Al Nasser. Since then, a number of European players have followed the legendary Portuguese player to the Pro League.

‘Cristiano opened the door for people to think that it is possible to live there and take part in the development of a nation that aspires to be different and has a passionate but underdeveloped football league,’ according to Mourinho.

‘Cristiano opened the door. Naturally, the proposal held significant financial value for me, as my priorities were Roma, European football, and commitment. If you ask me in the future, I’ll tell you never say never because of my experience.’

After the interview, Mourinho visited Saudi Arabia for a number of important athletic events.

He was a guest at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this month and witnessed British boxer Anthony Joshua’s victory over Francis Ngannou.
