Erik ten Hag ‘Make Goncalo Ramos, Mohammed Kudus Top Striker Targets’

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus as forwards during the summer transfer window.

The 20-time English champions are currently negotiating a loan deal with Burnley for Wout Weghorst for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

Erik ten Hag’s side are expected to sign a high-priced striker this summer, with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane both heavily linked.

According to Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst, the Red Devils are also interested in Ramos and Kudus.

“Ten Hag does like Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus at Ajax. They are both more attainable. Kudus would be relatively straightforward, although if United plump for him they should get that done early doors after Ajax had them over a barrel with Antony,” wrote Luckhurst.

Kudus, who played for Ajax under Ten Hag, has 10 goals and two assists in 21 appearances for the Dutch champions during the 2022-23 season.

Since starring for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup, the 22-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Barcelona.

However, Kudus is under contract with Ajax until June 2025, putting the Eredivisie club in a strong position to negotiate a transfer fee.

Ramos has also been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the 21-year-old scoring 15 goals in 25 appearances for Benfica this season, while also registering seven assists.

Meanwhile, the striker was in action for Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, famously scoring three goals in his team’s 6-1 round-of-16 victory over Switzerland, despite being prefered over Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ramos has 29 goals and 11 assists in 84 appearances for Benfica, where he is under contract until June 2026.
