Barcelona Out To Re-Sign Aubameyang Months After Chelsea Move

Despite the fact that he can only play for one other club this season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang time at Chelsea could come to a very short end.

Fans were quick to point out that Aubameyang would be moving despite having an Arsenal tattoo on his arm when he did so in the summer.

Only six months had passed since his departure from the Emirates then, which was the result of him losing the captaincy as a result of missing a game in January.

The Gunners happily let him go for free as he arrived at Barcelona, but just months later he was back in the capital of England for their rivals.

However, things haven’t worked out at all for the 33-year-old, which might be down to the number nine shirt curse that has been handed to him.

Having scored 11 goals for Barca in 17 games in the second half of last season, Aubameyang has just one goal in nine Premier League games in the current campaign.

Can Aubameyang Return Barcelona?

The Blues have struggled in general and have now signed Joao Felix until the end of the season, with the Atletico Madrid forward reportedly costing £9m in loan fees.

That could mean Aubameyang leaving and, according to Gerard Romero, Barcelona have spoken to La Liga over the possibility of bringing him back.

The club needed to speak to the league about whether they’d be able to spend the money for his return, due to the wage budget they have for the season.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker played once for Xavi’s team in the current campaign and that’s enough to mean they’re the only team outside of Chelsea he can play for during the campaign.

FIFA rules don’t allow a player to play for more than two teams a season, so Barcelona and Chelsea are his only two options until the summer.

According to the report, the Catalan giants would have to get rid of someone before bringing him in, most likely Memphis Depay, who has been heavily linked with a departure, or Franck Kessie.
