Chelsea Receives  £415 Million Cash Injection From Mauricio Pochettino January War Chest Transfer

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have provided a big boost to Chelsea ahead of the forthcoming transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino aims to climb the Premier League rankings. The Blues added 11 new players during the summer, in addition to Christopher Nkunku, Malo Gusto, and Andrey Santos, who joined in January.

While not everyone stayed, with some loaned out, the Chelsea manager was well-equipped to secure a Champions League qualification berth. However, due to an injury pandemic at Cobham training field, Boehly and Eghbali have yet to reap the benefits of their huge financial spend, with the west Londoners currently sitting in the Premier League’s bottom half.

Pochettino, on the other hand, is beginning to turn around Chelsea’s fortunes on the field, with back-to-back victories over Brighton in the Carabao Cup third round and Fulham in the English Premier League. While the Blues have yet to get into the top ten, they are currently in good form.

The American millionaires are willing to strike while the iron is hot, giving Pochettino even more resources to secure a top-four spot. According to GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea will now be able to spend big in January if they so desire.

Agreement with Ares Management?

According to the article, the west Londoners have agreed to a £415 million transaction with Ares Management, a private equity and real estate markets firm based in Los Angeles, California. While it is unclear how much of the aforementioned amount would be set aside for player recruitment, Pochettino has been granted a war chest with which to work in January.

Victor Osimhen, who is presently facing an unclear future at Napoli, is one player that may pique Chelsea’s interest. After the club posted a controversial video on TikTok last month, the 24-year-old striker has been extensively linked with a move away from the Italian giants.

The video, which appeared to mock Osimhen, was posted on social media just days after he missed a penalty during the Napoli’s clash against Bologna. The Serie A outfit later released a statement insisting that they ‘did not intend to cause offence’ to the Nigeria international.

football.london understands that Chelsea were keen on Osimhen in the summer, but Nicolas Jackson was signed from Villarreal instead. It’s believed that the Blues viewed the Nigerian as somebody who could have transformed the club’s misfortunes in front of goal but, without Champions League qualification, any bid to sign him proved difficult.
