Chelsea And Arsenal Gain A Huge Boost Regarding The £100 Target

The transfer rumor that Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, would go for half of his rumored £100 million price tag this summer has piqued the curiosity of Arsenal and Chelsea in the wantaway player.

With a long number of Premier League clubs reportedly interested in his services over the previous 12 months, the England international is anticipated to depart the Gtech Community Stadium at the end of the current campaign. The West London team was reportedly seeking £100 million for his services after he scored 20 goals in the Premier League the previous season.

That fee had somewhat curtailed reports of Arsenal and Chelsea interest with such a big outlay sure to cause concern over Profit and Sustainability Rules. However, after failing to score in his last eight league outings, it now appears that Brentford may let their star man leave for a much lower fee.

Florian Plettenberg, a writer for Sky Sports, claims that Toney might be available for as little as £30–£40 million. The striker’s recent performance won’t have increased his worth, but Brentford’s contract situation is also problematic.

Since Toney’s contract with Brentford is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2025, the club will be using the forthcoming transfer window as a kind of last-ditch effort to ensure that his departure will not negatively impact their bottom line. But after suffering defeats to Everton and Nottingham Forest this season, clubs are being frugal with their investment, and the £100 million that was once requested could not be feasible given the current situation.
