Burnley Eyeing Swoop For £15m-Rated Arsenal Man As Summer Window Looms

Burnley have been linked with a bid for one of Arsenal’s players ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

According to The Sun, Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is considering a reunion with Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga ahead of the summer transfer season.

Lokonga is said to be surplus to requirements at the Emirates after falling out of favor with Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.

Lokonga was loaned out to Crystal Palace in January after appearing in just six Premier League games throughout the first half of the 2022/23 season.

Since then, the midfielder has appeared on nine occasions for the Eagles at this level.

Lokonga has only been used twice by Roy Hodgson since his return to Selhurst Park in March.

Palace are reportedly hesitant to pursue a permanent transfer for the 23-year-old during the upcoming transfer window.

When did Burnley manager Vincent Kompany last collaborate with Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga?

During his tenure as manager of Belgian club Anderlecht, Kompany collaborated with Lokonga.

Kompany chose the midfielder to play on 36 times during the 2020/21 season.

The Clarets manager claimed that he recommended Lokonga to Arteta prior to his move to Arsenal.

Burnley’s hierarchy is anticipated to back Kompany in the transfer window, and he is thought to be confident in his abilities to get the best out of Lokonga if a deal for the Gunners is completed this summer.

According to this source, Arsenal values Lokonga at £15 million and is looking to reshape their midfield options ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Lokonga is one of several players who the Gunners are willing to unload in the coming months, according to The Times.

Kieran Tierney, Emile Smith Rowe, Folarin Balogun, Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding, Nuno Tavares, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Cedric Soares, and Nicolas Pepe are also possible departures.
